Proceed with Caution

If I get over you

Before you steal my feelings

I can walk on water

Instead of sinking too deep

If I constrain my hopes

For what we could have

Then if you were to leave

I can get on with my week

If I let you touch

Instead of hold my heart

Then you can just let it go

Without it falling to the ground

If I laugh with you

But not that hard

You can’t take my laughter

If you’re no longer around

If a tear should fall

I can use a tissue

Cos I can’t rely on your sleeve

If you’re ever the cause of the pain

If we run before we walk

Our legs could give way

They’d be weak and damaged

I might never walk again

Brits 2010

I’ve discovered a new found respect for Lady Gaga after her Brit performance on Tuesday night. In the past I admit, I wrote her off as a manufactured pop act rather than a musically talented artist, but I’m ashamed to say I was just being ignorant. Since Gaga’s heartfelt dedication to Alexander McQueen at the Brit awards I was genuinely impressed and started to take her abit more seriously as a musician. I wasn’t aware before that she actually writes all of her own music, and choreographs everything on her own.

A few people have said her performance was disappointing as there weren’t any of the usual dramatics and the songs weren’t known, but I think she purposely exposed a solemn side to reveal herself as a bit more vulnerable and I think it really showed her vocal talent. I still don’t know whether I would buy the album…

I think her three awards were kinda deserved but I would have been happy to see Rihanna clinch the ‘International Female’ cos I think she’s came back really hard, (yep yep yep) since the whole Chris Brown episode (not sure why Alicia was over-looked completely).

The one for me on the night though was Dizzee. The Amercian’s always steal the shine at our Brits and I loved seeing Dizzee and Florence doing a duet and reppin for the UK music scene at OUR awards. I’m chuffed to bits at his ‘British Male Solo Artist’ award. He’s came such a long way since ‘I love you’ and I think it was the most deserved of the night so big up Dizzee!

If you take my wings, I will run instead

An angel can only fall, with clipped wings
But a demons tail is harder to trap
Wings can be a strain on a back
Migraines from the weight of a halo
But hot red runs through the veins though

A hug from the front, it would seem
But a knife in the back wasn’t planned
Twisted with a disloyal hand
And the eyes that were open and seen
Witnessed the eyes that were jealous and green

A foot can easily slip from a cloud
Initiated by the deviance of misguidance
Against the faith and trust of the kind-hearted
Smug and nasty that smile is to see,
A sad tear splash on the carpet

There is no such thing as complete tolerance
Just a confusing kind of heartbreak from a burning ear
Because people always like to believe what they hear
So we angels started carrying machine guns
And from our noble chests roar,
‘The rebellion has come!”

Haiti survivor

Cries echoing like tinnitus
Plaguing the conscience of our destroyed souls
Helpless
Famished, inside crumbled walls
Donations to gratify your own pride
Tomorrow you can live your life
But my loved ones died
Even those faces with sincerity are insignificant in my eyes
The tremors that shattered our spirits
How can anyone pick up the pieces?
My whole life slaughtered to nothingness
While the world around carries on regardless
Do you want to try on my battered shoe?
It wouldn’t fit your unspoiled foot
Amongst us, lost hope, and violence
Humanitarian aid is what they call it
Relief ‘efforts’, to no avail
Too late for rescue, a burden on your day
The gutter or the kerb is where I lay my head
While you tuck yourselves into your secure bed
And you can close the door to your mansion
Because the seas that separate us are extensive
It doesn’t deserve a place in your mind
Because you cant see life through my eyes
Faced with this ordeal you would be traumatised
But it is not yours, this is my life

Beyond a glance

Shallow eyes don’t see underneath the skin

Red lipstick leaves its stain on the brain

Females compete in vain

For males to give them the time of day

Conceited minds for self-indulgence

They live the chore of being fake

So when you look, you see beauty in abundance

One day you may realise it’s powerless alone to sustain

A thoughtful mind can release your worries

A shoulder to cry can relax the strain

You will never see what can be offered

If you aren’t willing to see past the face

Amidst the stunning women

Who stroke egos to gratify their own

A beauty deeper than a pout

But you never look further than your superficial ways

With more and more people using facebook and other networking sites to meet people, the temptation to be shallow is ongoing. People competing to gain the attention of the opposite sex, and more often, girls trying to grab guys attention with their provocative profile pictures; no one really getting to know about anyone else or really communicating past the ‘like’ button on a picture or status…too many people getting gassed from picture comments.

Networking sites were intended for us to stay in contact with people you know or meet new friends, but it’s became a sexual predators buffet. If you’re profile pic aint cutting it, then don’t expect a poke! There’s plenty of others who are willing to flash a little more skin to distract the guy you’ve been instant messaging. What, you thought he only asked you out of his 1000+ friends for your number??

Is it just a phase or should we accept that this is the way people will meet from now on? Because if it is, it seems were destined to be shallow for eternity…

No strings

No Strings

Am I like a man if I use you for what you are to me, just for the physical chemistry?
Cos I could be like other girls and want you to be completely with me from the attraction we feel
But I know you’d be no good for me, you’re not the type to be real
We’d just cheat and argue and lie and I know I want someone deeper than that when I want it for real
Your mind is too young, not as old as your body
So you’re in it for one thing.
So why would I fool myself into thinking I’m in it for the ring?
I’m not being promiscuous, I’m being realistic about us
You’re good to me in the sheets
But he will be good to me in everything
And I’m not being disrespectful, but I know that’s all you really want
So I wont pretend to my heart, and then it wont have to fall apart
Why call you my boyfriend? And leave myself open to no-one else
Or go behind your back cos I don’t expect us to last
We may as well call it what it is
So I’m not being easy, I’m being real to you and me
You can only understand if you’re truly a man
That a woman can be in control too, when we know in ourselves what we want from you

The big debate over women who are in a sexual relationship without being in an ‘official’ relationship is always a controversial subject. And many people think that it’s usually because the guy doesn’t want anything more…but this isn’t always the case.  That doesn’t necessarily mean that she is incapable of having a strong, faithful relationship with someone else. What do you think about a girl who only wants the physical part of a relationship?

The past might have shaped who I am today, but it’s the present that represents what I want to be in the future

Hello and thanks for visiting my blog. This is my first step into shaping my future as a writer. I discovered that my poetry is relatable for a lot of people so I decided to start by sharing it with my very own blog. I’ll also share features on here regularly on relevant topics to keep you all coming back for more. Any feedback is welcomed, or if you would like to use my writing for something then message me and I will get in contact.  Happy reading 🙂
