If I get over you

Before you steal my feelings

I can walk on water

Instead of sinking too deep

If I constrain my hopes

For what we could have

Then if you were to leave

I can get on with my week

If I let you touch

Instead of hold my heart

Then you can just let it go

Without it falling to the ground

If I laugh with you

But not that hard

You can’t take my laughter

If you’re no longer around

If a tear should fall

I can use a tissue

Cos I can’t rely on your sleeve

If you’re ever the cause of the pain

If we run before we walk

Our legs could give way

They’d be weak and damaged

I might never walk again
