Broken hearts

Shattered hearts get swept up with a dustpan and dumped on a rubbish pile
and pure ones get stained and recklessly consumed, by the greed that bites them, from self-indulgent hungry mouths that this society has bred

So ones that try to repair build unconscious walls that don’t ever really allow love to pour in, but instead through gaps in the brickwork they filter true loves form
And shallow souls restrict emotions capacity, so refrain the truest from reaching their deeper dimensions, to protect the heart that keeps us alive

And we learn to love again with a wilful hope
but covered by a security of conscious restriction we try our best not to surrender whole
