Faithful
God, I know that you are true
Even if the clouds over your creation shadow the beautiful
and rain down ugly
I see you in the radiant faces of those I love
And in the shades of green that sprout regardless
through the polluted soil
The fierce sun bequeaths its light
as a token of your gift to mankind
A warmth to gladden our hearts and comfort our skin
But its kind light permits me to see Mother Nature’s struggle;
and I know she is dying
But the sadness that fills me to watch her suffer
only reminds me of the faith I have in your powers of restoration
The tear that may fall on a crumpled cheek can be dried with a prayer
and ironed with a faithful smile
I am still learning, but I am willing and fervent
With a resilient heart
But belief seems to have lost its meaning when the tainted contradict, to justify their stains
They negotiate the truth to comply with their desires
But the only aspirations I have are faith and love
The foremost possessions of a happy spirit
